CBFC Censor Report for Kantara: Chapter 1
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared the film with a U/A 16+ certificate on September 22, 2025. Fans will be relieved to know that all the action-packed and intense scenes remain untouched. None of the dialogues were muted or altered either.
However, one change was mandated:
-
An obscene hand gesture appearing at the 45-minute mark was replaced.
-
In scenes showing drug consumption (52nd and 53rd minutes), a ticker was added stating:
“Consumption and trafficking of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances is prohibited by law and punishable with rigorous imprisonment and fine.”
The film’s final runtime is 168.53 minutes (2 hours 48 minutes 53 seconds), ensuring a grand theatrical experience.
Hindi Version & Advance Booking Details
The Hindi version of Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 has also been cleared by the CBFC. Advance booking has already started strongly in Karnataka, with the first show kicking off at 6:30 am on October 2.
In Hindi-speaking markets, advance booking officially opens on the evening of September 26.
